Duladeo Temple

This partially ruined temple is the latest of the whole Khajuraho group, dated to 1130AD.

Exterior of Dudaleo Temple

The angular exterior is particular to this temple.

Exterior of Duladeo Temple

Notice how the same standing Shiva image is repeated over and over again, as if they were running out of ideas.

Duladeo Temple Shikara

The lighter stones are modern additions that complete the profile of the ruined temple.

Duladeo Temple Balcony

This particular temple is dedicated to Shiva and Paravati.

The deity in Duladeo Temple

The statue is a bit of a composite, with the head of Vishnu, and the body of Shiva. There was a local who desperately wanted to lead us around, but the fact about the statue was all he could say...

Duladeo Temple Exterior

It is said that this temple bears witness to the decline of the sponsoring Chandela dynasty, in that the ornamentation is a little over the top, and the carvings are not as fluid as the earlier temples.

A dual gendered Shiva/Paravati

Notice the asymmetric breasts, which are apparently as planned since the nipples are there. The figure has the attributes of both Shiva and Paravati.
